child Companioning
a safe place to grieve their wayGrief can feel like a storm inside a child, confusing, overwhelming, and hard to understand. They may struggle to find the words to explain what they are feeling. Their grief can surface in many tender and unexpected ways. Through big bursting emotions, quiet withdrawal, endless questions, imaginative play, flashes of anger, lingering worry, or subtle changes in behavior. At Bri’s Lodge, children are welcomed into a warm and compassionate space where their feelings are honored and gently held. Here, they are free to express their grief in their own time and in their own way. Through talking, creating, playing, or simply being surrounded by care and understanding
What is child companioning?
Child companioning is a supportive, one-on-one time for children who are grieving the death of someone important to them. Because children often process grief through play, drawing, stories, questions, movement, or quiet connection, each session gives them room to share in a way that feels natural and safe.
Companioning is not therapy or clinical counseling. It is a compassionate presence walking alongside your child as they begin to understand and carry their grief
